Common-Law Separation (Ontario)

“Common-law” typically refers to unmarried partners who have lived together in a conjugal relationship. After separation, common-law partners may have rights and obligations relating to parenting, child support, and sometimes spousal support, but property division rules differ significantly from those for married spouses.
